FAQ

How long will it last?
In order to keep the hair coming in at a reduced rate, you would come in about every 4-6 weeks. The discomfort would be about 1/3 of what it originally was because you would be having about 1/3 of your hair removed. If you come in on our recommended schedule, you should be more comfortable by your 2nd visit! And that is what we want, a close to pain-free wax as possible
Why We Don't Trim our Clients Hair?
We have set the highest level of professional standards for waxing, safety, and sanitation is our ultimate goal. We understand other establishments provide this service. We choose not to, to maintain a clean and safe environment for our clients.
-
Initially grow hair out 3-4 weeks or 1/2", whichever is longer. For best results, the longer the better.
-
Do not ingest caffeine.
-
If OK with your doctor, take ibuprofren one hour ahead.
-
If your skin is sensitive prior to and during your period, you may want to avoid waxing. However, if you don't mind, we don't either.
When you say Brazilian, what do you mean?
The definition varies. For us, if we remove the labia hair it is a Brazilian regardless of what you leave or don't leave on top, a line, a triangle, or nothing.
Can I Use A Numbing Cream Before I Wax?
We rather you didn’t. Numbing creams can sometimes interfere with the application of our product or, in certain situations, cause allergic reactions. You could be allergic to the benzocaine that contains an anti-itch formula without knowing it. Applying it before your service, could cause a reaction with our product. We are wary of chemicals around sensitive areas. So, please avoid numbing creams or sprays before your visit.

What will I be wearing in the treatment room?
We provide a paper disposable dressing cloth to drape over you, to make sure we don't get wax on your clothing. If you are getting a Brazilian we provide a modesty drape prior to treatment.

What's the big deal about "double-dipping?
Double-dipping is a common practice of many places. To cut costs, they dip used sticks repeatedly. This contaminates an entire wax container. PrettiKat Boutique takes pride in health and sanitation! Our waxing sticks are dipped into sterile wax once, applied to the client once, and then discarded. During a single waxing session, our professional technicians may use 20 sticks or more!
Will I be Uncomfortable after my Wax?
Everyone is different, for those who are getting a Brazilian, Bikini Wax for the first time, the coarser your hair and the more sensitive your skin, the more sensitivity you will feel during and after the wax. Some first-time clients are uncomfortable for an hour or so and others feel a little bit sore for a day or two. Additionally, it is important not to wear tight jeans or pants if it is your first time waxing.
The best way to minimize the discomfort is to take an ibuprofen 20 minutes before you wax, another after your wax, and then use a cool compress on the area if needed.
(But remember not to place the ice directly on your skin.) You won’t need to do this every time, but it may help the first couple of times. Once you start waxing regularly, you will feel less discomfort. We recommend a our soothing skin relief balm to treat your skin after a wax to ensure the most rapid relief.
Please be aware: some slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal temporary reactions, particularly if this is your first wax. These symptoms should subside over 24-48 hours. If you experience persistent redness or irritation, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
